8-10 March 2016, Oslo

Norwegian Aimsun Users’ Meeting and Training Course

It is now almost five years since the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) adopted Aimsun as their mesoscopic modelling tool.

Many of our Norwegian users have gained experience with Aimsun at either the mesoscopic or microscopic level and are looking to share their project work and also further develop their skills.

On Tuesday 8th March we will be holding a Users’ Meeting in central Oslo (exact location to be confirmed) followed by a custom two-day training course on Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th March specifically tailored to Norwegian requirements.

Norwegian Aimsun Users’ Meeting – 8th March

The Norway Users’ meeting will consist of TSS updates on company activities and Aimsun software feature developments but the main focus of the day will be user presentations showcasing Norwegian research and Aimsun case studies.

User presentations are divided up into 30-minute slots. To reserve your presentation slot, please add a note in your accompanying email when you send your registration form to info@aimsun.com.

In your email, please include the title or topic of your presentation so that we can include it on the event programme.

Training Course – 9th & 10th March

The course will cover, but not be limited to, the following topics:

  • Demand matrix: Estimation, correction, evaluation
  • Route choice: Selection of route choice model, setting parameters, route analysis, calibration, how to avoid unreasonable routes, cost functions etc.
  • Microscopic-mesoscopic hybrid modelling: the main differences between meso and micro, parameter changes, network changes, how to calibration hybrid
  • How to move from meso to hybrid smoothly – it’s much more than just running uncalibrated micro pockets in a calibrated meso
  • Roundabouts: Coding and calibration
  • Outputs: Selected link, difference plots, a review of most important and useful outputs – for example, what you can use instead of the CONTRAM volume/capacity ratio to describe the performance of the network.

We will post a more complete agenda of the course contents shortly.
